Dear Stranger designed is a small fashion brand based in Palmerston North New Zealand
Hello, My name is Anessa
I’m the person behind the brand Dear Stranger. My brand is all about creating beautiful functional clothing for every size. All our pieces are designed with alterations in mind, so if you need something taken in slightly, taken up, or taken out, our pieces are designed to make that possible.
To me fashion is about all bodies wearing something that fits them, and not trying to fit your body into your clothing. Especially in my custom design process, I focus on you and your needs and helping to create something that makes you not only look your best but feel your best.
Personally, it was very important to me to make Dear Stranger as sustainable and ethical as possible. With this in mind, we have chosen to use only deadstock, recycled or organic materials in making our garments. It’s also important to me to be as open about the production process as possible and use local manufacturing wherever possible. Because we are only small, our process is still a work in progress, but we will keep improving as time passes.
This brand has been a dream of mine for a long time. I’ve always loved creating clothing, and even decided to study fashion at Massey in Wellington. After that I landed in bridal fashion and learned all about creating perfect fit, working with couture techniques and sculpting the perfect gown for every bride. But I decided I wanted to learn more about clothing and sustainability, so I went to study my masters in Dunedin, where I looked into supermodernity and clothing. This taught me a lot about modern clothing and my designs are heavily inspired by these ideas.
My first collection is kind of an amalgamation of all the different ideas I’ve worked on in my fashion journey so far.
We are very busy getting everything ready for you, but in the meantime please keep in touch by subscribing to our newsletter or following us on instagram.
